The story behind this picture....This man was just looking at the traveling wall today, when I spotted him attempting to reach out and touch a name on the black stone. Just short of making contact, he quickly pulled back his hand, as if getting close was too hot and making contact with the wall would be like touching a hot stove. He made a few more attempts, managing to finally touch the wall very quickly once. Then, I captured this picture, when his finger finally made that emotional contact that held him in an embrace. He seemed to not be able to remove his finger from the memorial, transported back into time with a lost comrade. Suddenly he rose, taking off his glasses to wipe away the stray tears, trying hard to hold back his sorrow and more tears, and walked away briskly not wanting to be seen. He was not aware of the pictures I took.

I believe the camera has taught me how to "see" and truly observe what is going on around me. If I was not with camera in hand, I may have missed this moment.
