Macy’s and Bloomingdale's debut UK jewellery e-stores

The US department stores will set up shop online with two new e-commmerce stores geared up specifically for the UK consumer.

British jewellery and watch retailers will now face competition from across the pond as customers can shop Macy’s branded watch and fashion jewellery range online. Labels such as Marc by Marc Jacobs and Bulova will feature on the store website, which will show all items in GBP for UK shoppers. It is the first time the retailers will accept online orders for customers outside of the US, providing the basket total does not exceed USD 2,500, or £1,500.

E-commerce firm FiftyOne will provide the platform for both Bloomingdale's and Macy’s, which is expected to deliver ‘most’ in-stock items within four to 13 business days.

Overseas shoppers paid 36 million visits to Macy’s website alone last year, making up around 8 percent of the traffic. With domestic sales stagnant, it seems the retailers are now keen to cash in on their status as iconic Manhattan department stores.
