Khalid Haji Ahmed, 32, an aspiring politician, was on Utoya Island, Norway on 22 July, 2011, when gunman Anders Breivik opened fire, killing 69 people. Khalid's little brother was among the victims.The family are refugees from Somalia's civil war. Unlike many of the Norwegian children on Utoya that day, Khalid immediately understood what was happening. "We the people ... who (had) a refugee background, people.. who (had) been in war situations before, undertood," he said.
