The biggest Sacramento news story of the day reads like something out of an action movie.
Some low-life tried to burglarize an auto repair shop. When the cops showed up, the perp shot at them, then carjacked a pickup truck from some poor guy getting his morning Starbucks.
Perp crashes the truck on the Yolo Causeway (which I traverse every day on my commute), jumps off the elevated freeway.
He hotwires a giant tractor (I’m not making this up).
When the tractor dies, he hops off and clocks a birdwatcher on the head and steals HIS truck.
The birdwatcher’s truck is recovered only minutes away from my own neighborhood.
Perp is still at large.
Result: The 80 Freeway closed for six hours, thousands of commutes messed up, long-line truckers late, traffic snarled to epic proportions, hundreds of people miss their flights at Sacramento International, the cops are very, very pissed.
Sucks to be the perp when they catch him.
