The first national test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will be conducted on November 9, 2011, live nationwide at 2:00 PM EST, 14 years 10 months and 9 days after the EAS replaced the Emergency Broadcast System on January 1, 1997 <- www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=55722





The EAS enables the President of the United States to address Americans yet, the federal nationwide EAS has never been activated. According to the FCC notice, no nationwide test of the entire system has ever been undertaken.
